Adi Sankara Nilayam is the revered birth home of Sri Adi Sankaracharya, the great philosopher, saint, and exponent of Advaita Vedanta. Nestled in the serene village of Veliyanad, Kerala, this sacred home of Aryamba, his holy mother, was historically known as Melpazhur Mana. In honor of Sri Sankara’s vision and mission, Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda aptly renamed it Adi Sankara Nilayam, meaning “the abode of Sri Sankara.”

Spread Across 12 acres of lush greenery, this ancient residence features:

  • A tranquil water pond
  • A temple complex with shrines of Ayyappa, Rama, Krishna, Vettakkorumagan (Kirata Shiva), Nagayakshi, and Bhagavati
